Cole Street Game Vault – Proxy Card Policy

The Impact of Proxy Cards

The use of fake or proxy collectible cards in a game store can create significant issues for both the business and the player community.  Proxied cards can devalue legitimate collections, undermine the integrity of competitive play and cause confusion or disputes among players. For the store, it can foster distrust and undermine a core concept of the business which is buying and selling individual cards. Ensuring that proxied cards are used only in a very limited manner and are NEVER used for competitive level events helps to protect the store’s reputation, supports fair play and sustains the collectible market that the gaming community depends on.

Cole Street Game Vault – Proxy Card Policy

At Cole Street Game Vault, we strive to maintain an enjoyable and fair gaming environment while supporting the integrity of collectible card games and their communities. To that end, the use of proxy or fake cards is permitted only in a limited capacity during casual, non-paid events. Players may use proxies to test deck ideas or temporarily represent cards they intend to acquire, provided that proxies make up less than 10% of the deck. These proxies should be clearly marked and not intended to deceive or replicate the appearance of genuine cards.

For any paid event—including tournaments, leagues, or other organized play where entry fees are collected or prizes are awarded—proxy or fake cards are strictly prohibited. Additionally, the sale, trade, or exchange of proxy or counterfeit cards is not allowed on the premises under any circumstances.

Any attempt to sell or trade proxy or counterfeit cards to Cole Street Game Vault will be taken very seriously. Customers found doing so may be permanently banned from the store and all future events at our discretion.

This policy helps preserve the integrity of our events, ensures fairness among players, and supports the continued health of the collectible card game community we’re proud to serve.

Riftbound – Temporary Proxy Allowance for Nexus Nights

During this period of limited product availability, Cole Street Game Vault will allow the use of proxy cards in Riftbound Nexus Nights events. Players may include proxies for up to 10% of their deck, solely to stand in for cards that are currently difficult to obtain. All proxies must be clearly marked and not intended to misrepresent official cards. This temporary allowance is intended to keep play accessible and fun while supply issues persist and will remain in effect until further notice, likely ending once product is restocked and/or the next Riftbound set is released.

In addition, Cole Street Game Vault will provide demo decks previously used for Learn to Play events for those who are unable to create a playable deck due to limited product availability. These decks will be provide upon request on a first come, first served basis.
